Now is the time to get your FLU VACCINE!

If you have certain medical conditions like diabetes or emphysema, you should also get a PNEUMONIA VACCINE. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) also recommends this as a one-time vaccine for everyone older than 65

A SHINGLES VACCINE (ZOSTAVAX) is now recommended by the CDC for everyone older than 50 years old. Unfortunately, not all insurance cover this vaccine, which is on the expensive side. This is also a one-time vaccine which might help prevent the SHINGLES. (No vaccine works 100%)

Please note that the PNEUMONIA AND SHINGLES VACCINES CANNOT BE GIVEN AT THE SAME TIME. You should not get the SHINGLES VACCINE if you are taking a medication that suppresses your immune system.

Don’t forget about your TETANUS BOOSTER. We recommend the DTaP which not only protects against tetanus and diphtheria, but also PERTUSSIS. This should be repeated every 10 years. But don’t expect your commercial or Medicare insurance to pay for it. Your best bet is to get it from the health department.

All of the others are available in our MAXHealth/Lakewood Ranch office exclusively for our patients
